The Chumash Indians of our chaparral country bioregion were the subject of a recent article in our free weekly newspaper, The Independent, for their efforts at creating ecologically sustainable practices of living and working: “The Sustainable Chumash: Inside the Santa Ynez Band of Mission Indians’ Quest to Go Green.”
