Patrick,

Sad news about the Bodhi Tree. I had not heard. During my year in LA--1974-75--clerking for Shirley Hufstedler, I visited that wonderful bookstore at least a couple of times a month. And I always visited the bookstore on my short trips back to LA. Please let us know if it re-opens somewhere else.

Happy New Year!

Michael

Michael,

Best wishes for the New Year to you too!

Speaking of independent bookshops, there's this story, at once bleak and inspirational, in today's LA Times on Marcus Books in the Bay Area: http://www.latimes.com/news/local/la-me-marcus-books-20120101,0,1155626,full.story

Thanks for posting this. Taryn had also posted it on facebook. The Times today has a number of favorable letters. It is an excellent essay.
