The Republican most recent script is that we should not increase taxes on the job creators. Job creators is the Republican's misleading euphimism for the filthy rich. Well I think we should take the Republicans up on the letter of their offer. Increase taxes on the wealthy, but allow them an exemption if they can show that the increase would get in the way of their creating American jobs. In fact, most of the wealthy can show no such thing. Even if they produce goods and services, they may be relying on job-killing automation; even if they create jobs they may not be American jobs. And a large part of the wealthy do neither. If one really wanted to create jobs, it would be necessary to transfer money from the wealthy to the poor and the middle class. So doing would increase the demand for products and create a market stimulus to meet that demand.
The Republican are going to find it increasingly hard to persuade anyone that they give an economic hoot about anyone who does not line their pockets.
