Thank you, Michael, for sharing these most helpful thoughts. I hadn't known of the Seder tradition that Lerner recounts, and find it full of deep wisdom. I also appreciate the idea he relates that God did not silence the Israelites songs of praise after the drowning of Pharoah and his men, not because God approves of such praise of the death of any sinner (see Ezekiel 18:23 http://bible.oremus.org/?ql=171434658 ), but out of patient understanding for the broken-hearted and their desire for joy in the midst of so much violence and oppression.

Yes, I too think they got it just right!
