In yet another horrendous example of the "export" of "Christian" beliefs,
see the New York Times' two page report on the influence of Christian
Zionism in the expansion of settlements in the occupied West Bank, making even more unlikely the chances for a two-state peace.

Several years ago I asked a staff member of the Christian Coalition why it was necessary to "prepare" historic Israel for the second coming of Jesus;
surely God could take care of that himself. "Well, he replied, a lot of
Christians think we need to help God along." (Lest he get lazy and
absent-minded?) In supporting the Israeli settlements, the fundamentalists have also chosen to ignore the interests of Palestinian Christians, presumably the descendants of Jesus' disciples, in ending the repressive Israeli occupation.
